My current work/ project is much bigger and more complicated than I thought, Theres a lot of work sure and, yes that I am not phased by that, but emotions of everyone involved...that's another thing.
For those new to this blog, hi and please stay awhile and read a little.
I am in South Africa trying to help my mother move on after the recent sad passing of my father. We are in a house build by my grandfather in about 1947. The place has seen little in the way of modernization, except the decor and furniture has changed, but thats all. To sell there is so much not up to regulation. The more we try go forward the more snags we hit.
Cash and money still tied up... where do I even start! The electrics, the three leaking roofs, Large wooden garage gates that have rotted x3... if these were the only things thing look fairly straight forward, they are for trades people to do so quotes and finding the right people.
We then find out that the large cottage at the back has not got planning permission...So off to town council to sort it out, need an architect to draw up and get plans passed... okay more issues. Find an architect who comes to visit to see what to do. Bigger problem house is more then 60 years old and has heritage status. Pulling down is not an option either....
While all this is going on we are trying to sort a the vast collections of my grandfather and father. Overwhelming amount of machines small, large and parts, they where inventors, makers, every thing was kept as it could be useful. Dad loved to fix, pull apart and make improvements, electronics ..mechanical... I think we have a printer grave yard here, for each one I bin I find another lurking .
My dad, my father brilliant creative mind...
